Crops › Blueberries

Blueberries: water and nutrition under control.

Blueberries on substrate are sensitive to water, pH and EC. With drain, EC, pH and the moisture in your substrate side by side, you know whether your irrigation is right, wherever you are.

What to watch

What matters with blueberries

1

Drain that is not right

Drain at the first irrigation cycle means the plants stayed too wet overnight. No drain, or drain that comes too late, points to too little water. For every cycle you see what goes in and what comes out, so you can adjust straight away.

2

EC that climbs too high

A rising EC in the drain means the plant takes up water less easily. See the EC in and out, and step in on time.

3

pH that is off

The pH of the incoming and outgoing water determines how well the plant takes up nutrients, and it matters even more for blueberries.

4

Substrate that is too dry or too wet

Measure the volumetric water content (VWC) and the EC in the substrate itself, plus the temperature, to see whether the substrate is moist enough.

What you measure

This is what you see on your phone

All measurements are in the same app and the same portal, with alarms you set yourself.

  • Drain %, flow in and flow out per irrigation cycle
  • EC in and out
  • pH in and out
  • Volumetric water content (VWC), EC and temperature in the substrate
  • Temperature and humidity (for VPD)
Our recommendation

How to set it up for blueberries

  1. 1

    Basis: Drain Monitoring

DMS PHEC measures drain, flow, pH and EC. Choose DMS PHEC PRO if you also want to see the volumetric water content (VWC), EC and temperature in the substrate itself.

    Drain Monitoring →

  2. 2

    Add climate

Add temperature and humidity for VPD, and optionally Leaf-to-air to see heat coming.

    Leaf-to-air →Basic Weather →

This is a starting point. We are happy to look together at what suits your business, and prepare a tailored proposal.

Frequently asked questions about blueberries

What is the difference between DMS PHEC and PHEC PRO?

PHEC measures drain, flow, pH and EC in the incoming and outgoing water. PHEC PRO also measures the volumetric water content (VWC), EC and temperature in the substrate itself.

Can I set alarms?

Yes, for too little incoming water, too little drain or drain that starts too late, and with the pH and EC sensors also on acidity and EC value.

Does it also work outside Europe?

Yes, our stations work worldwide and automatically pick the strongest mobile network.
